In August RAW achieved an international audience for its work
Richard Branson’s team at Virgin Unite celebrate our RAW success story.
“Virgin Unite was founded by Richard Branson to unite people and entrepreneurial ideas to create opportunities for a better world. He uses this venture to support projects he is that passionate about, working to make the world better. RAW is starting to make an impact globally, and it says something about the success of this venture that Richard has shared Annah’s blog on his website”

In this issue of the AWW our awesome Rebecca is interviewed about her work with women transitioning from prison. You can also read Gina and Ina’s personal accounts of their journey’s from prison reintegrating back into the community with RAW.
“The education has been the best part for me. I would like to have my own salon and I want it to be booked out two weeks to one month in advance, because I am going to be that good at it!” Ina
Thank You to Our Funders
We are very pleased to welcome WEL Energy Trust as a funder for a second year. They are supporting the launch of RAW’s Entrepreneur programme in 2017 which is a new and exciting initiative to assist our women and men into their own businesses as an alternative opportunity to traditional employment.
Political Recognition
In August Bill English visited RAW and spent time talking to 3 of our women and men about their personal reintegration experiences. Opportunities to highlight our successes and learnings at a political level provides RAW with a greater advocacy voice as we move forward.
The Parole Board is a significant influencer on RAW’s work so it was privilege to be invited to present its work with reintegrating women at the National Parole Board Conference in late July.
Recognition of Auckland RAW Volunteers
The Catholic Caring Foundation held a Caring Mass at the Auckland Cathedral in late July in recognition of volunteers. Lenore Conelly represented the RAW Friends of Auckland group, which fundraises for RAW, and she received a certificate of recognition for the group’s volunteer work from Bishop Patrick Dunn.
While RAW cannot recognise all its volunteers in such a public way, we value each and every one of you for your selfless generosity of time and skill.
Thank you to all our volunteers.

WINTEC “Urban Collective” Event
Recently RAW supported Ina at the WINTEC “Urban Collective” event. Nore made a wonderful model for Ina’s Goddess of the Forest entry.
As part of the event each entrant was asked a question and Ina’s was what she plans to do after completing her studies – continue training and open her own Barbers business. Go Ina! The evening was made extra special for Ina as her eldest daughter was in the audience to cheer her on.

The store is always looking for more stock.
Furniture stays in the shop only days so if you’re replacing your lounge suite or redecorating any of your rooms please contact us to donate.
Employment Opportunities
The opportunity for one day of paid employment while they study to provide on-the-job
training and work discipline is an important element of reintegration.
We are looking for opportunities for our women and men in hospitality, retail,
IT (high competency), administration, garden maintenance, labouring and gym work.
Alissa is also seeking full-time employment. She is an intelligent young woman
and learns new skills quickly. Ideally she would like an administration
role. Can you help?
